With the Bengals' wild 18-16 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday, Lewis became the first NFL coach to sport an 0-7 postseason mark. Lewis, 57, has a 112-94 record with the Bengals in the regular season. He has been the team's head coach since 2003.
The Bengals' meltdown in Saturday's playoff loss came after Lewis led his team to a franchise-record-tying 12-4 regular-season mark and a fourth AFC North championship without the benefit of having starting quarterback Andy Dalton (broken thumb) for the last four-plus games

"We destructed on ourselves," Lewis said after the game.

Burfict must go. Now!
Yep, gotta keep that “Diversity” alive
But to be fair, the Steeler are a dirty team and Brown in particular is a dirty player...
More a warden than a coach.
Oh i see, so it’s the players fault then? Funny how he says “we” failed. Weren’t you the coach? They got rid of the Bucs coach quicker than you say “diversity”..
The whirling sound you hear is Paul Brown spinning in his grave.
Hmmm
I would have announced Lewis’s immediate departure as soon as the game was over.
0-7 and a team of thugs. (Lost to some thugs, too, no doubt.)
Better than 10-9.
What I am most amazed by the coverage of the Bungals loss is no mention why Lewis would run the ball with 1:23 left. They were already in field goal range. Why would he not just kneel the ball three times forcing the Steelers to take those 3 time outs and then kick the field goal??? This was the worst coaching I have seen in a long time.
The Bengals wanted to get a first down and end the game. A field goal with 90 seconds left gives the Steelers a lot of time to get a TD. The one thing you have to do is protect the football. On contact, wrap it up, don't go for extra yards. The Bengals runner was fighting for extra yards instead of going to the ground after a 6 yard gain. Stupid.
Meanwhile, in that rain, the field goal was not a chip shot. It was something like 45 yards. Kneel a few times and you lose a few yards. Miss it after 3 kneels and guess what armchair QBs will be saying the next day?
It was the right thing to do, but only when reminding everyone to protect the football, and only with someone in the game with no history of fumbles. Two more runs totalling 4 yards and the game was over. I wouldn't want to give the Steelers another chance, either.
One of the ugliest games I’ve ever seen.
"We destructed on ourselves, ... ?"
Amazing. Such brilliance on display.
The Steelers are not a dirty play team at all. You show a video of a wide receiver who decided to hurdle a tackler and the tackler doesn’t duck his head. Not dirty at all. Now, Burfict is one dirty thug. He would likely be in a prison if not on the Bengals.
Lewis’z biggest mistake was in not pulling Burfict out of the game after the hit on Brown. If a player is emotionally out of control, as he was, no decent coach leaves him on the field. I like Lewis but huge mistake there.
I said kneel the ball 3 times and kill the timeouts, then kick the field goal. The Steelers got the ball with 1:23. The Benguals could have taken it down to a minute with 3 kneels. The Steelers would have less than a minute with no timeouts and it wasn’t hindsight for me, I said it when they setup to run (you’ll just have to trust me on that one...:) Even if they missed the field goal, they still would have eaten up Pitt’s timeouts.
If Lewis were White, he would have been sacked years ago.
The Bengals made it easy for the Steelers to win. They made them mad. They threw garbage on the field when a Steeler player got injured. They almost started a riot. They ran off the field with the ball like they already won the game. That’s dissing the team, understand?
I agree. A field goal extends the distance that the Steelers had to move the ball by 35 yards. With no timeouts and an inexperienced QB (so they would have thought - or a great QB that couldn’t throw deep as it turned out). To me, the Bungles took the path of most risk, and it cost them, assuming that they can count on their kicker to make a 45 yard FG.
