Fiddlin' John Carson's The Storm that Struck Miami (1934) provides a horrifyingly graphic description of the 1926 Miami hurricane. He also notes that the people of Miami "did not keep the Sabbath and sent away the cross" and warns:
People all take warning,
And don't forget to pray.
For you soon will meet your maker
Before the break of day.
Another song about the event, The Miami Storm by Vernon Dalhart (1927) that just recently came to Youtube, doesn't offer nearly as graphic a description of the destruction but comes to a similar concludion.
