OK, here's the deal:

I like to lay in my bathtub and read, and I like to be able to see what time it is. A huge part of my interaction with the local AM radio waves involves listening to various talk radio dudes, maybe a podcast or two fed from my phone, and when I get static or keep having to retune it just pisses me off.

I want a digitally tuned radio, with a clock display I can see from the tub under the current lighting setup, that does not piss me off. I need clear reception, the kind you get from a digital tuner, all these crappy dial-tuned POS things I get from WalMart are not within the scope of this project. They will all end up in Hell.

I want a nice clock radio and I'm willing to spend more than $10 if the product works properly. Something with a reasonably small footprint. Someone please point me in the right direction.

My marriage may depend on it. She Who Must Be Obeyed is tired of listening to me cuss at the top of my lungs and smash the snot of of the crappy devices I have owned so far, out on the back porch.

I guess that gets old, from her perspective. Please, help me save my marital bliss and still listen to the facking radio in my bathroom.

A while ago I bought my mom one of those expensive Bose clock radios. She didn't really want it so now I've been using it for years.

Great sound. Good, clear digital display. Mine will also play CD's. You can set it up to wake you with an alarm, radio, CD, whatever. And if you choose music, it doesn't just start out at a high volume, but slowly rises so as not to shock you awake.

It was $500 back in the 90's. I don't know if the price has gone up or down since then, but I think it's been worth it for how long it's lasted.

I’m guessing the blue LEGO alarm clock my wife bought that goes off at 5 AM even on weekends is not what you’re looking for.

Like to borrow your hammer though.

WTC, when I first read your post, I thought you were somewhat of a madman, lol. But, then I read your page. You’re a funny guy. You should write a book or something.

GET A SANGEAN!!!!! We have a shower radio from them, excellent, I’d say get that one but we really haven’t used it since Hurricane Sandy and I can’t remember if it’s got a clock.

We also have a FABULOUS table top alarm clock from them. I love it because it has BOTH a digital clock and an analog clock, also 4 alarm settings, 2 music, 2 buzzers. It also has snooze and nap settings but we really don’t use those. Yes, the radio is digital, that is to say you don’t use a dial to tune it in.

I love both these radios very much and highly recommend this brand to you. I’m sure they will have a device that meets your needs.

For some reason AM and FM reception is difficult in my house. We live in a large town, no more than 5 miles from a 50k AM station but got static, and the FM station we wanted, forget.
The nice Sony clock radio we had just couldn’t cut it.
After much internet research I settled on a Sangean RCR-22.
Excellent radio,, excellent reception AM and FM . Pulls in the stations we want no problem.
And the clock keeps time w/ WWV.
Check it out.

Sangean H201 is digitally tuned and shower-proof. I don't have one, so I can't say for certain it has a clock, but it has an LCD display, and most Sangean radios do have an alarm clock.

Sangean makes great radios.

I don’t think clockboy has radio tuner skills.

I have a cube-shaped Sony, model ICFC1PJ. The digital radio tuning seems to stay locked in (though the usual AM station is very strong). I find the display clear and easy to read, though it’s not what I think of as an “oversized display” design. Give it a look.

And, might I suggest, next time you have a fit of rage, actually hammer some nails into a wooden block to practice your carpentry skills.

My suggestion would be a U.S.-based clock radio from Tivoli Audio.
You will likely find their website interesting and helpful.

A wide variety of hardware choices and reasonable prices for excellent quality.

Sangean PR-D15 gets outstanding reception, especially AM. I do not know how good the alarm clock is, but it has one. $82 on Amazon. Link

You can't get better radios than the 2 on the right.
Just click on them.
