Reminds me of the skit Gilda Radner did, reporting "Endangered feces? Why do you want to save feces?... Oh, endangered species, never mind...".

Of course the archives should go to the Jewish community, and since it no longer exists in Iraq then it should not go back to Iraq. Islamic hard-liners will just destroy the artifacts if they go to Iraq.
