I'm amazed Al Davis hasn't reached out from the grave to slap Mark Davis silly over this idea - the idea of abandoning his old AFL rivalries with Denver, KC and the Chargers would have been blasphemy to him.

In the Bay Area, the 49ers and Raiders have always been rivals, even if they only play once every 3 or 4 years.

The AFC West is one of the divisions that continues long-standing rivalries, going back to before the merger. (The others are the NFC East and the NFC North.) They need to leave those divisions alone.
