I don’t equate McVeigh to all militia types anymore than I equate all FReepers as one and the same.
However, if you don’t think there are a bunch of McVeigh types waiting on a cause hovering around this issue and the Bundy issue you are sadly mistaken.
These men have no standing (NONE - zip - nada) in this issue nor do they have any right to arm themselves and take over a public building on public lands. Listen to them - actually read what they say or hear the interviews with them. They, like McVeigh (yes - he believed the same thing), are desperate to find the issue that will spark anarchy and war against the government.
Do you really believe even 1% of Oregonians will take up arms and run to support this group (uninvited and unwanted) against the government?
There are “fights” I might make my stand on, but I am unmoved by this situation just as I was unmoved by the Bundy situation. However, the flock of McVeigh types (yes, that is how I view them) that keep flying to these murky situations out here inviting confrontation concern me. It won’t end well - it can’t. It won’t be a blow for freedom or democracy - it will be a call for the further erosion of our rights.
Just the way I see it. Your opinion may differ and that is okay by me, but I would urge you to study the men allegedly participating in an armed occupation of a building they don’t own in a place that probably does not want them there to begin with.
Of course the guys who are occupying this small federal outpost have no standing in the Hammond family’s situation. They should not have interjected themselves in this situation, especially since the Hammond family did not and does not want their involvement.
I never said that people in Oregon should support this group, whoever they are. The citizens of Oregon should support the Hammond family, because it sounds like the feds have been very heavy-handed with them and their property. These outside groups are background noise which is now becoming louder due to their unwanted intervention into this matter.
