The best was when my Dad got invited to bring the family to Meadow Gold Dairy's building on Colorado Boulevard.....warm inside with all sorts of food, and a couple of steps to their private bleachers.
We were kind of in-between. We stayed at a Marriott about 10 miles east and left at 4:30 AM after a good nights sleep. They had coffee and donuts for the early risers. When we hit Pasadena at 5, there was hardly anybody out. I was shocked how empty it was. We parked and went to the Marriott in town and had more coffee there (even though it was reserved for their guests). Got to our reserved bleachers at the turn about 7:00 or so — Colorado Blvd was pretty filled up by then. It was COLD last year, close to freezing; luckily we didn’t freeze our butts off for too long.
