A number of people have been mauled or killed by bears and wolves in Alaska in recent years. The one thing they had in common was they were wearing headphones or ear buds. When I’m out in the wild, my head is on a swivel and I never have anything in my ears. It’s not just an urban thing.

You cannot even find a person on a cell phone with earbuds to cross the street safely—they just cross on the green and never bother to look both ways or behind them. Cannot decide if they are idiots or they are too consumed with their conversation to give a damn. Mostly likely both...
