Headphones have been illegal while driving in cars for decades and ear buds, if both are used should be illegal also, it’s tough enough to hear a siren in modern cars without someone basicly making themselves deaf plugging both ears.
Depends on the earbuds, I have worn some that allow “pass through sound” meaning even with them in as long as the volume is not too loud it is is just like wearing a stocking cap over your ears in regards to sounds outside of the car, that being said if I need to listen to talk radio from my cell phone in the car I wear only one in the ear that is towards the center of the car.
Why? I thought headphones were preferred to phone.
Have to totally agree with you, especially as they are being played on high volume.
As a double hearing aid wearer I can’t even turn the radio on and drive. It is 1 a distraction, 2 you can’t hear anything outside the car well, even with the radio off.
My biggest gripe is those side air bags, for those of us who have had Cataract surgery we have NO Peripheral vision. Even with glasses you have to really turn your head which requires you to take your eyes off what is in front of you to check your side mirrors. I’d like to see camera’s put in side mirrors when you put your turn signal on.
I quit driving at night 15 yrs ago, and stopped driving the free/express way 10 years ago. Can’t see to change lanes, and with 6 lanes that is a big issue. Especially in Memphis where you have Kamikaze drivers with no driver’s license and no insurance.
