I well remember Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings. And very soon after that, Bob Packwood. I do not believe the allegations that were leveled against Thomas. What was he alleged to have done? If you take them at face value, he 1) asked a subordinate out (he was unmarried at the time), 2) he told off-color jokes and 3) he put a 'pubic' hair on top of a Coke can (it was never ascertained to be an
actual pubic hair). Bob Packwood forced a kiss in in elevator. For these crime, we were LECTURED
ad nauseum about sexual harassment from NOW, the Democrats, and other leftists. Unwanted sexual advances, or even jokes, from men in positions of power were WRONG, and don't even try to make excuses for them.
Then, a very short while later, Bill Clinton came on the scene and literally blew even the worst accusations against Thomas out of the water. The same people who wanted to crucify Clarence Thomas circled the wagons around Bill Clinton. It was breathtaking.
