A list of - in the author's opinion - the 50 greatest TV characters of all time. Just something to take your mind off of all the bad news of the day.

They included Buddy Sorrell but not Rob Petrie (Dick Van Dyke himself)?

Rob Petrie was a straight man; he was the guy who made the other comics look good, most of the time.

The other comics being Morey Amsterdam, Rose Marie, Mary Tyler Moore, Richard Deacon, and Carl Reiner.

That may be, but for me Rob and Laura Petrie are the most memorable characters from that show.

I recognize all these characters, but never even heard of Emma Peel.

She probably has a sister named Nana.

Mrs Emma Peel was played by Diana Rigg, it was British TV series and a spy show. Still shown around the world.

Diana Rigg went and was a Bond girl in the 1969 film “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”.

The top 10 is way too subjective, many TV characters I would have in that top 10 list other than many of those shown.

It is really a poorly assembled list, there are many other great characters that should be up there but TV Guide has to stay within a range that the young pups can relate to.

I was a big fan of Taxi back in the day but no way is Louie number 1.

I would put Lucy Ricardo at number 1. After that, maybe Marshall Dillion at number 2 with some of the MASH characters in the top ten.

Elliot Ness as played by Robert Stack, should have been on the list. Also, John Singleton Mosby - GRAY GHOST was a huge hit across the country during the 1950s, even in liberal NE.

Patsy Stone. Played by Joanna Lumley. I believe she was a model back in the 60s.

As good as they are, I'd go with Mike Ehrmantraut.

Mike is pretty much the sole reason that Better Call Saul is worth watching. The scene where he talks about what happened to his son was unforgettable.

Al Bundy would have known who Emma Peel was.

George Costanza would have known that Bozo the Clown deserved to be on the list.

Perhaps you’re referring to the actual MWC episode where Al ordered a VHS Avengers collection, and was aghast to find they shipped him the later episodes with Mrs. Peel’s “ugly” replacement.
