The prohibition in the 10 Commandments is against MURDER, not killing. Two very different things! Yep! It is unfortunate that the King James version got it wrong but you check most every other transcript version and it says "murder" not "kill". Besides it is not plausible to suggest kill when just a few verses down it lists some reasons to put people to death.
