We have spent 15 years pretending things about Islam, a complex religion with competing interpretations.

This is a very good article which lays out what the history of Islam has been and the west's self-imposed ignorance of it. But I think he is wrong about competing interpretations. There is only one Islam and one interpretation of it, literal. The difference between individual muslim's behavior is simply what each is willing to do to follow the edicts of Muhammad and the Koran.

Those differences are not fixed. People change over the course of their lives. Some become more devout and some less, some become more committed and some less. That is why we see 'Sudden Jihad Syndrome.'

Years ago I read this dialogue:

Muslim: “What do we have to do to make you infidels stop hating us!?”

Christian: “Stop the Jew-hatred, end worldwide jihad, no more FGM, liberate women from the burka, let non-Muslims live in peace....”

Muslim (interrupting): “In other words, you just want me to stop being a Muslim!!!”

Read the comments after the article. The people there are onto the Bush family and Clintons and other politicians covering up for Saudi Arabia as they are making millions from the terrorists.

Example: rbythesea 2 hours ago
In 1978, Bush and Osama bin Laden’s brother, Salem bin Laden, founded Arbusto Energy, an oil company based in Texas.

Several bin Laden family members invested millions in The Carlyle Group, a private global equity firm based in Washington, DC. The company’s senior advisor was Bush’s father, former President George H.W. Bush. After news of the bin Laden-Bush connection became public, the elder Bush stepped down from Carlyle.

Interestingly, on Sept. 11, 2001, members of the Carlyle Group - including Bush senior, and his former secretary of state, James Baker - were meeting at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Washington, D.C., along with Shafiq bin Laden, another one of Osama bin Laden’s brothers.

While all flights were halted following the terrorist attacks, there was one exception made: The White House authorized planes to pick up 140 Saudi nationals, including 24 members of the bin Laden family, living in various cities in the U.S. to bring them back to Saudi Arabia, where they would be safe. They were never interrogated.

BUSH rymes with WUSS. This family, had extensive financial ties with Saudi Arabia and guess still does. When found out that 15 of the 19, 9/11/01 terrorists were at least Saudi passport holders, about an hour later, Mecca (and surrounds), should have been turned into one big glass plate. Didn’t happen.

Furthermore this typical low brow Bush, let all of the perpetrator/Bin Laden family member leave our country soonest, when all other flights were cancelled, so that our FBI could not have the opportunity to properly interrogate them. A few days later, he marched all U.S. Muslim doctors, lawyers and indian chiefs out on the front lawn of our White House and told us that Muslims were the religion of peace.

These treasonous traitors have betrayed us from day one, only because they placed their families financial interests, ahead of the best interests of our country and people.

Muslims have big problems. With the University in Egypt saying that ISIS are not heretics means everything that Robert Spencer has been saying is correct. It is intrinsically in the religion to foster jihad, violence and conquest. It is a warrior creed, to take everything from the unbelievers including their lives, and it is morally correct and encouraged to rape their women.

(We made a huge deal out of Abu Ghraib, but ISIS rapes women and sells them as sex slaves and it comes right out of the Koran).

Now we understand that value of Charles Martel. He
single-handedly saved the West from a thousand years of darkness.
