I thought it was a rehash of earlier movies, put together by a Disney committee that lacked any vision. Evil was less evil. Character’s were rehashed. It was just ok.

I did not like the actor who played Ren, AKA “Son of Solo”. He had no appeal for me. Came across as a wimp.

I got that feeling the first time I saw and actually came away highly disappointed from the movie. Han Solo wasn't as snarky as he was in the original and Lea was also toned down. I felt the Luke Skywalker/Kylo Ren storyline was partially stolen from the 3rd episode. With the feeling of the reboot aspect, I could not figure out why I was dissatisfied with the movie as a whole. I went and saw it again. There is one common trait that has appeared in all Star War movies besides the characters, the cut shots and swipes from one scene to another. To me this was a trademark of a Star Wars movie and JJ Abrhams totally cut this out when trying to make this a non-cgi movie. Put the swipes in and you get the Star Wars feeling. There are a couple of cut shots but they do no justice and some remind me of Episode 4. While the story was intriguing it was not the Star Wars movie I was looking for.

Don’t get hung up on the plot, this was just a means to introduce Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren/Ben Solo. Yeah, they could have concocted something a little more original, but it was fun-—A LOT MORE FUN than the prequels. Banter and characters you actually care about are back... plus some old school practical effects and sets. Hoo-rah! I say.
And Disney did not write this script, it had the hand of Kasdan, an original Star Wars writer. So, I’m pleased with that.
