A Texas mother is speaking out after her daughter's school gave the young girl a henna tattoo the week before Christmas.
Tammy Samour was shocked when she picked up her daughter Leah, 7, from Ed White Elementary School in Houston and saw the second grader's hands covered in the designs, which are traditionally applied to the hands and feet of women during Hindu ceremonies and festivals.
That shock soon turned to outrage however as Ms. Samour says she never gave the school permission to tattoo Leah - and now the brown paste will not wash off her hands. It can take several days before the vegetable dye fades.
Ms. Samour also said that connections she discovered between the Hindu and Muslim faiths were of concern to her when she decided to do further research on the tattoo.

Please! Peace.
No personal attacks, if you would be so kind.
We all have our opinions of things, and this is a site where we can express them.
No need to go after someone simply because they have a differing opinion, right?
Cheers.
You mean like when the kid got that tattoo in Captain Ron?
These things are done at fairs all the time. While I could agree that mom should give permission, the tattoos are so far from signifying any Hindu or Muslim faiths that it is laughable. Yup they fade away in about two weeks.
*laugh!*
Ehrmmm... no, not exactly. *grin*
You would think a school would have better sense than this, if only from a health liability perspective. I have a student who is so allergic to foods and substances that she has to bring her own hand soap to school, among other things (including epi-pens). She is only five, but is sharp enough to tell you what she can and cannot eat, drink, put on her skin, etc. I doubt anyone at school has tried to paint her with henna, though. I can only imagine her parents’ reactions if she came home with temporary tattoos!! Yikes. They are very nice people, but it could still be Lawsuit City.
My friend’s grandson recently informed him proudly: “Papa, I know all about Islam.”
Gene asked for particulars. His grandson told him he learned in government school that Islam is the one true religion, that there is one god, Allah, and Mohammed is his messenger - and so on.
It is really, REALLY bad already folks.
The only thing Hindus have to do with Muslims is that the kill each other with some regularity when they both aren’t going after the Christians.
See?
Would it not have been better if the school had sent out notices that they were considering marking children with temporary tatoos, and they needed the parent’s permission to do so?
At least, that would seem to be the preferred option, and one which was usually the default modus operandi in years past.
You probably should spend a few minutes on Google before sharing your ignorance publicly. No 'tatoo instruments' are used in a henna tattoo. They are either painted on with a stencil or freehand, and they last anywhere from two weeks to two months.
At least here, the school gave the parents advanced notice of the planned activity and the parents didn't opt out.
“At least here, the school gave the parents advanced notice of the planned activity and the parents didn’t opt out. “
Them that could read, anyway. Something tells me in the future they’re going to have to actively ‘opt in.’
This mother is not too bright.
Or, perhaps, she is simply someone who has never heard of such a thing as a 'henna' tatoo.
'Untaught' or 'Unknown About' is not the same thing as...
"Unintelligent."
CAIR is likely distributing this literature nationally and controlling the textbooks.
One school sang Islamic song at a Christmas pageant. It included the words, “Allahu Akbar.”
You know the phrase as it’s uttered by terrorists during attacks.
It’s mistranslated often as “God is Great.”
In fact, it means “Allah is greater.” In other words, their god is greater than yours.
Imagine the laughing Muslims seeing the ignorant Crusaders allowing their children to sing this.

Make that “Untaught” or “Unaware of”.
Makes a bit more sense. :)
Your crumb cruncher won't have that happen until he goes to college and passes out drunk at a party.
Whoever allowed this should be fired.
but let a kid wear “Jesus is Lord shirt to school and all hell breaks loose
I think this was/is stupid and the parents have every right to be angry.
It is also important to understand that henna tattoos are not permanent. It doesn’t make it right, but I say that as a point of information. The children were not tattooed in a traditional, permanent manner.
Got some extreme Leftist teachers there in Texas.
I had never heard of them either and I am 71.
