My mom lived in a retirement community and was very social. One year, she complained that she didn’t have sufficient alcoholic beverages to serve her neighbors when they came by. So, one Christmas I bought her a variety of spirits. thinking she would be thrilled. Not an inexpensive gift. Well, when she got the package she opened it in front of some friends and i got the nastiest call ever. She was mortified and furious that I would send such a gift.
This year she’s getting candy which she says she’s craving. Mind you she’s almost 98!
