Is THE FORCE with this new ultra PC remake of Star Wars - Episode One?
Well, we seem to have a Lego Star Wars box sitting on our dinner table, so the visiting grandkids can play with it while nibbling.
So, this may be right.
Ain’t that the truth. I’m sick of seeing Star Wars everywhere I go.
“Merchandising, merchandising - that’s where the real money in the movie is made.”

The new movie was good. I won’t spoil it but it did it’s job in the storyline fairly well. I only had a minor plot quibble but I know many others who would like to see it haven’t so I will hold off on details.
But Star Wars has always been about the toys. Even the original trilogy was.
Lucas made his fortune by setting up his deal as less box office take and retaining more merchandising rights on the first movie. That was actually to ease the studio’s fears since they were not so sure it would be a hit (and they didn’t get the toy idea I think).
Episode IV was the first move in history to gross more on merchandise than on box office sales. Lucas was right, and his business gamble paid off.
I’m to the point of overload with the nonsense surrounding this film...the theme music and references to SW are just about everywhere...I’m sick of it.
And up until yesterday, was interested in seeing the film sometime next week...now? Not so sure, but they won’t miss my few $$’s though.
JJ kills the death star again.
UH...The MOVIE made a half BILLION in sales this weekend.
That fact qualifies as a MOVIE “franchise”.
Has been from day one. George Lucas was very shrewd and kept all of the merchandise licensing for himself, and let the studios have the lion's share of the box office.
No amount of special effects wizardry can top Star Wars as reviewed by Mr. Plinkett.
Also... If you really want to see how the whole feud between the empire and rebellion started here’s an episode of “Cops: Totooine” that shows the back story.
