lol. 17 percent of the country. I would think it should be a percentage of eligible shoppers. though i dont know how you’d figure that out.
Got amazon credit card recently so everyone’s getting amazon gift cards this year :)
do you need my address :)
I’ve ordered all kinds of man stuff — tools, stuff for my shed , even a drone for me, but yet to start on the rest of the family
.
I noticed that a few days ago in a big department store; I was shocked at how close we parked to the entrance, then even more by the lack of lines - seemed to be as many employees as shoppers (not much of either). I believe companies were expecting this, as I didn’t see the seasonal hiring binge that had been the norm in the “before-times”...
Did most of mine in about an hour sitting at my computer.
Senior and Mrs. Mineral and I went to Texarkana today for lunch and the wind up of shopping. The highway traffic was at least triple what it usually is. Fortunately for our lunch I insisted we eat at our preferred Chinese place. No problem getting a seat, but a bit after noon the people stated coming in. Every “casual dining” chain restaurant parking lot was absolutely filled. We would have to wait at least an hour for a table.
Afterwards we went to the Books a Million and Mrs. Mineral bought a very simple puzzle and a doctor Suess book for The Worlds Best Niece. I had previously bought her a plush figure and couple of very small bath toys. The real “gift” is funding her education fund. An eighteen month old girl really can’t do too much.
MMM! My favorite when I was younger.
50 million...men. Men are terrible at starting their Christmas shopping. Me? Finished last week. :)
P.S. Amazon is GREAT!! So are all the other online shopping sites. I had only a few trips to make. Probably cut out 90% of all shopping hassles this year by using online. Felt guilty about it; so little effort.
Guilty as charged your honor.
Those who actually understand economics know that a product that is made, transported, and sold, and then given to someone who didn’t want it is PURE WASTE.
Geo. Will wrote a column about ten years ago, estimating that Christmas, considering all the stuff that is bought for people who didn’t want it, is the equivalent of a giant hurricane that destroys $10 Billion-worth of property. The correct figure today would be about $15 Billion, probably. Or maybe $150 Billion. Anyway, a lot.
Apart from a few gift cards, all done otherwise thanks to Amazon..
That is generally what I do. I had so many racked up last month that I had to use or lose, when I went to fill up on diesel, I paid 47 cents a gallon.
I tell my wife don’t bother, I don’t need anything but she insists so I pick some token thing or two from my Amazon wishlist.
Bigger ticket items I prefer to buy myself such as lenses, technology, etc.
No drone, other priorities. With that FAA registration stuff, I may not bother.
I ordered a couple of replacement fenders for the long languishing 82 CJ7 that I hope to reactivate this year. Taillights for the even longer sitting K5. I hope to invest some labor on my Willys with the 4 day weekend assuming I can be left alone to do any.
Besides the big Christmas thing will be the replacement Tacoma. I lost mine in the flood in October. The one I ordered is in at a dealership about a 100 miles away.
The local Toyota crowd thought I was from Mars or something when I showed them what I wanted which I found at the dealer 100 miles away website. It was sold before I could get to it. This one is held with a deposit since it was special order.
We’re too busy working.
Sorry, I ran out of stamps (cost too much)
Merry Christmas
