Bombshell new reports have suggested that a major GOP candidate who was once looked at as a possible frontrunner is preparing to drop out of the race.
According to The Political Insider, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee's campaign is going so poorly that he has significantly cut the salaries of his staff. This is typically a sign that someone's campaign is about to come to an end.
Hogan Gidley, the campaign's senior communications adviser, confirmed the salary cuts for senior staff members on Thursday. However, he claimed the decision was made several months ago, which seems unlikely.
"We made some adjustments to senior staff salaries several months ago because we wanted to put those resources into people in Iowa," Gidley said Thursday.
Reports appear to contradict this though, as it appears the salary cuts were made in recent weeks, coinciding with Huckabee spokeswoman Alice Stewart's abrupt departure earlier this week.
Though Huckabee won the Iowa caucuses in 2008, he is currently polling between 1% and 3% in the crucial state. It appears that his days in this presidential race are numbered.
I think Huck and Rand Paul are about to throw in the towel.
He is not dumb as a rock. I don’t want my president calling people dumb and dopey.. even if they are. I want to be proud of my President. Is that asking too much these days.
No it means Ted Cruz is leading Trump by between 2 and 22%. Take your pick. Trump is losing either way.
“Bombshell”. Okay...
So now we know who the SECOND-smartest Conservative is in the Republican race after Ted Cruz — Mike Huckabee.
Mike Huckabee, like the other Conservative candidates, has everything to gain and nothing to lose by dropping out.
He will become a leading commentator on Fox News as the caucuses and primaries proceed. And since he’ll be the first to drop out, his loyal staff will have the best chance of getting jobs in Ted Cruz’s growing campaign instead of joining the unemployment lines.
In addition, he’ll be able to live with his conscience for having had the integrity to help the leading Conservative candidate, Ted Cruz, win the nomination by taking himself off the stage instead of being a monkeywrench in Ted’s plans by drawing off Conservative votes.
And what will the other Conservative candidates, Carly Fiorina and Ben Carson, be doing if they refuse to drop out soon?
By following Mike Huckabee’s example, Carly could also become a major commentator on Fox News and maintain her Conservative integrity; and Ben Carson could show he was sincere when he vowed to consult God before joining the race. God apparently had other plans for Doctor Carson, as his major collapse in the polls seems to indicate.
On the other hand, if they remain in the race, what will they do accept spend the next few months visiting cold pig farms in Iowa and slogging through the snows of New Hampshire, with nothing to show for it except maybe some well-deserved cases of frostbite?
Cruz/Whoever 2016
Too bad, I like Huck. Defends Christianity, life, and conservatism more than most.
Linseed and Pataki have got to go!
