After a somber start to his vacation, President Barack Obama arrived in Hawaii on Saturday to celebrate Christmas and ring in his final year as president.
Air Force One carrying Obama, first lady Michelle Obama, and daughters Malia and Sasha landed at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in the wee hours of the first day of his annual two-week holiday getaway from Washington.
The president usually spends his vacation time in Hawaii, the island state where he was born, frequenting the island's golf courses, dining out, hiking, going to the beach and treating himself and his kids to shave ice, a frozen dessert that looks like a snow cone.

Anyone who complained would be called a denier, complainer, whiner, over reactor, and in league with those eeeeeeevil birthers.
Hey!Where were any of these guys and gals on Obama’s eligibility, forged documents, hidden passport and school records, and his mysterious non-attendance at Columbia U.?
One year the Mooch stayed longer in Hawaii with Oprah. They will not cope well when they don’t have the taxpayers money to spend. It’s not going to be pretty. I’m sure they will live well off the bribes they have been paid.
By this time next year they will be vacationing in their new Hawaii home retirement bought and paid for by Chicago billionaire Penny Pritzker and other wealthy Obama supporters (beneficiaries). Expect Obama to “retire” to a palatial estate on the ocean, well beyond his ability to afford on the retirement pay of an ex president.
