From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is an American country-folk-rock band that has existed in various forms since its founding in Long Beach, California in 1966. The group's membership has had at least a dozen changes over the years, including a period from 1976 to 1981 when the band performed and recorded as the Dirt Band. Constant members since the early times are singer-guitarist Jeff Hanna and drummer Jimmie Fadden. Multi-instrumentalist John McEuen was with the band from 1966 to 1986 and returned during 2001. Keyboardist Bob Carpenter joined the band in 1977. The band is often cited as instrumental to the progression of contemporary country and roots music.
The band's successes include a cover version of Jerry Jeff Walker's "Mr. Bojangles". Albums include 1972's Will the Circle be Unbroken, featuring such traditional country artists as Mother Maybelle Carter, Earl Scruggs, Roy Acuff, Doc Watson, Merle Travis, and Jimmy Martin. A follow-up album based on the same concept, Will the Circle Be Unbroken: Volume Two was released in 1989, was certified gold, won two Grammy Awards and was named Album of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards.

Ping
There are loved ones in the glory,
Whose dear forms you often miss;
When you close your earthly story,
Will you join them in their bliss? Will the circle be unbroken
By and by, by and by?
In a better home awaiting
In the sky, in the sky?
Saw the NGDB way back in the day at Marietta College. I believe some mind altering substances may have been involved ;) Love Amy............sweet!
Will The Circle Be Unbroken? written in 1907 by Ada R. Habershon
I have had a hard time finding this song sung with the correct, original words but this is a portion of the original song as written in 1907 by Ada R. Habershon with music by Charles H. Gabriel. For more information visit here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Will_the...
The pictures are of my Christian grandparents Hazel and Reginald Moore who lived in Nixon, Texas. The last picture has grandparents from both sides. My dad’s mother Minnie Edwards who I called Mammaw was also a Christian but I don’t know about my grandfather if he was a Christian before he died.
Here are the correct and original lyrics:
1. There are loved ones in the glory
Whose dear forms you often miss.
When you close your earthly story,
Will you join them in their bliss?
CHORUS:
Will the circle be unbroken
By and by, by and by?
Is a better home awaiting
In the sky, in the sky?
2. In the joyous days of childhood
Oft they told of wondrous love
Pointed to the dying Saviour;
Now they dwell with Him above.
(Chorus)
You remember songs of heaven
Which you sang with childish voice.
Do you love the hymns they taught you,
Or are songs of earth your choice?
(Chorus)
You can picture happy gath’rings
Round the fireside long ago,
And you think of tearful partings
When they left you here below.
(Chorus)
One by one their seats were emptied.
One by one they went away.
Now the family is parted.
Will it be complete one day?
(Chorus)

Thanks to both of you.
Where did AP Carter get his words?
The Old Fashioned Revival Hour Chorus Choir does a fine version of this hymn. It’s on CD, but it hasn’t yet come to Youtube.
