The story is kind of Grinchy but if I were a neighbor and my street was shut down for six weeks every year I suppose I’d get a little tired of it. The neighbors have a right to enjoy their properties, too, and unless they consent to the public streets being shut down to accommodate pedestrians then I can understand why the lawsuit is taking place.

None of the neighbors have complained. To the contrary they all think it's great. The mayor is apparently doing this because of a personal vindictiveness against the people who put up the lights.

Regardless, the mayor doesn't come across very well in the piece. She looks like a real life Grinch and Scrooge trying to turn the lights off.
