No Such Thing as a Trump Republican
Jewish World Review ^ | 12/10/2015 | Michael Reagan

Posted on 12/17/2015 1:04:41 PM PST by nikos1121

"You can't be a Trump Republican and a Ronald Reagan Republican."

That's the tweet I sent to Jeb Bush the other day, when virtually the entire planet was united in bashing Donald Trump's call for a temporary ban on Muslim immigration to the USA.

I also tweeted another obvious truth, "If the Republican Party doesn't dump Donald Trump, the American people will.

Trump's outrageous "Muslims Keep Out" plan — apparently his policy answer to last week's terrorist attack in San Bernadino — is an embarrassment to our country and what it stands for.

It's also a serious threat to the Republican Party, because it's being used by Hillary, Democrat hacks in Congress and the Big Liberal Media to smear the GOP as the party of bigots and idiots.

Gee, outside of the “enterprise zones”, which is leftyish and doesn’t work, all of that sounds very much like what Trump’s plans are and he’s the ONLY ONE saying stuff like this.

LOL - I get so very angry when everyone says Cruz is the new Reagan. He is nothing like Reagan was, not even close. It seems now days that conservatives have a very skewed view of him or maybe are just buying into what Cruz says he was. Reagan was my governor as well as my President. He was pretty much a populist and a realist. Not a constitutional scholar.

Reagan was VERY much a populist and was as vague about stuff he said, as trump is; thought Trump adds a few details and Reagan really didn't.

The posters who compare Cruz to Reagan were either quite young when Reagan was governor and president, or have lousy memories. And their visceral, irrational hatred of Trump doesn't help them any either.

I worked on both of Reagan's winning presidential campaigns AND I have an excellent memory.

This is a dishonest claim that Trump said keep all muslim out. He made it clear they needed to be vetted and our government is not vetting properly. Until they know what they are doing, we can’t let the current Isis/radical danger presented against Americans to continue and to grow.

So Michael Reagan is ignorant or lying about Trump’s policy on Muslims. I don’t believe Ronald Reagan would have endangered the American public for liberalism’s fetishes of mindless political correctness. From what I have read, he was not all that crazy about liberalism’s stupidity.

It sounds like Michael has the vapors...mindless liberalism.

You’re right! I always confuse David Limbaugh and Michael Reagan. They’re both male relatives of outsized Conservative stars.

Thanks for correcting me.

However, if David Limbaugh ends up trashing Trump for no good reason, then I’m recycling that post of mine. :)

LOL. You won’t need it.

I follow David on twitter and he supports Cruz but doesn’t say anything bad about Trump.

Kinda interesting that Michael Reagan referred to Sarah Palin as “Ronald Reagan in a skirt,” yes attacks Trump who has the same characteristics as Palin, and who (from what I’ve read) is admired by the same Sarah Palin.

It’s possible Michael Reagan’s loyalty to the Bushes (which makes NO sense as they have never had a loyalty to his dad) just blinds him to the similarities between Trump and his dad. He can see only the difference.

That was Hillary! who called in psychics, and the MSM twisted history to pin it on Mrs. Reagan. IIRC, it was Rush Limbaugh I heard say this.

So did you ever try to talk with her seemingly cold tight @ss? Or did you continue to allow her to seem?

Michael Reagan is the adopted son of Ronald Reagan and his first wife, Jane Wyman.

He is also a conservative radio commentator with a long history

Reagan for his time, was right for America.

Trump for the present, is right for America.

Reagan would not be appropriate for today’s political climate just as Trump would not have been appropriate for the era of Reagan.

So which position are you advocating? That Reagan didn’t have sincerely held conservative beliefs or that Trump does? Because both are utterly false. Or perhaps you will finally be the first Trumpeter to be able to tell me what Trumo has DONE (not just said) in his entire life that shows he has a single sincerely held conservative belief. If he’s so Reagan like, it should be easy! BTW, telling me to

Watch the apprentice
He’s a successful businessman (so is bill gates)
He supports veterans (so do Dem’s when they need us)

Doesn’t count for the reasons stated.

What you say is true, BUT

I sure recall the energy that REagan had in 1976. Maybe it was kinda like it was in 2008. No republican would have won, and Reagan was very very Hawkish.

In short, I think the REagan of 1976 is very much like Trump now, maybe more so. I think Reagan would be saying the same thing he says, although with Reagan everything was related to our military muscle and taking on the Russians.

I don’t think Reagan would have got us into the last gulf war, and if he did he would have assured boots staying there.

We are the product now of what happens with weakness. 25% will vote for Hillary because they’re stupid, maybe another 10-15% because of the abortion issue, but my God, the majority of the voting public voting for her? No way.

Lastly, they’ll never come out and say it, but I think people like BOR, Rush even Levin will vote for Trump. I know Hannity will, and so will Ann C and so will Laura Ingraham.
