Two more Twin Peaks bikers plead not guilty

Two more bikers arrested in the May 17 Twin Peaks shootings pleaded not guilty Wednesday during brief court hearings.

Roy Covey, 28, of Clifton, and Jacob Reese, 30, of Mount Pleasant, were arraigned by 54th State District Judge Matt Johnson on engaging in organized criminal activity charges.

The pair were among 106 bikers indicted Nov. 10 on identical charges for their alleged roles in the shootout that left nine bikers dead and more than 20 others wounded.

Covey is affiliated with the Cossacks motorcycle group, while Reese's attorney, Steve Keathley, declined to say which group Reese rides with.

Court officials have been careful to schedule bikers affiliated with the same group or their support groups for arraignment on the same days.

Six bikers are set for arraignment in 19th State District Court on Thursday morning.

Many of the indicted bikers have chosen to waive their arraignments.

Unless I missed it, not a single guilty plea so far.

Yep, so far so good. After the first trial we will know exactly what the DA’s plan in.

I must be grossly uninformed; I assume this affects our 2nd Amendment rights or some other national security aspect...if it doesn’t then to me it is just a sensationalist distraction from Ryan’s budget, Planned Parenthood, the destruction of our country, etc. What am I missing? I see a new post on this daily and I still don’t care.

Justice is more apt to be served if they all can hold to NOT GUILTY. It only takes a couple of plea bargains to muddy the waters.

I must be grossly uninformed;

You are.

What am I missing?

Anytime 177 citizens are mass arrested, some attention should be paid. Anytime a citizen is arrested based on 177 identical affidavits of probable cause, attention should be paid. Anytime 177 citizens are held on $1,000,000 bonds, attention should be paid. Anytime the state imposes a gag order blocking dissemination of information and squelching First Amendment rights of citizens, attention should be paid. Anytime 106 citizens are indicted on identical "conspiracy to engage in organized crime", attention should be paid.

For starters.

Why we care is that what this is about is:

Can government round up hundreds of people at political rallies and throw them in jail if a few people there (including government operatives stage a fight?

We think the answer should be no.

We understand that many people don't see any sort of problem with that.

Thanks for the clarity (sincere). I hadn’t looked at it that way.

I see a new post on this daily and I still don’t care.

Well, if you don't care about dirty cops, corrupt judges, and tame media, I suppose you don't care. Most sheep don't, until they get to the slaughterhouse.

If you remain disinterested, perhaps they'll even let you pick your own concentration camp.

Should we ping the social media coordinator for the Waco cops?

Some biker gang apologists and defense attorneys spun a conspiracy theory about this case, and a bunch of people fell for it.

After all, it’s much easier to defend these guys if you claim they were “set up” by some nebulous government operation, than if you have to defend them for being members of a criminal gang that planned a showdown with another gang they were at war with, and that showdown was witnessed by dozens of people in broad daylight, resulting in multiple homicides.

I believe there are multiple issues associated with the Twin Peaks shooting that may or may not affect & change future laws. Interaction between America's first line defense against terrorism (LEO)& citizens lawfully carrying weapons & using them in violent acts is one of the bigger issues. I've read commentary that the more rights given to citizens to arm themselves & carry erodes the strength & effectiveness of the nation's first line defense (LEO). Some are centered around the issue of LEO firing upon civilians (armed or not) vs. LEO’s right & duty to protect their assets & personnel.
I stay with it for the videos. The videos tell the story of what went down IMHO. Although soundless, one can visually see what agitators were doing just before & when they were shot. Not everyone who was outside in the area of the TP parking lot took a bullet. The fatalities are the ones I'm most interested in, but all video on the matter is important. All potential jurors that saw the videos need to say during jury selection is that they saw the videos & did not understand any of them; they want legal experts to explain what happened to victims in the video to them. I believe D.A. Reyna should get as much of the video out in public as quickly as possible just so those who think LEO ambushed a bunch of defenseless, innocent people can see the turmoil & lawlessness that actually occurred by mostly middle aged, over-aged men dressed up as bikers at a public business.
The videos help all put themselves in the places of the grannies trying to consume their Sunday dinner in the adjacent restaurants & the LEO personnel working crowd control with fellow operatives mixed in with the people firing weapons & using chains as bullwhips towards other people at ground zero.
LEO is a strange business to me; for what's expected of them there sure appears to be a consistent effort to make their jobs & missions as difficult as possible. Perhaps if people care & stay interested in the case, things will get better for everyone from future law modifications. Stranger things have happened.

America’s final and most important line of defense in every way is an armed citizenry.

One hundred percent of the people who discount or minimize that don’t just have a problem. They ARE a problem.

This has nothing to do with “biker gangs” or their “apologists”.

It has everything to do with police lawlessness and creeping totalitarianism. If it can happen to those people, it can happen to us.

If you can’t see that, I am deeply saddened.

“If it can happen to those people, it can happen to us.”

Speak for yourself. You see, I don’t belong to a criminal gang, I don’t get in wars with other criminal gangs, and I don’t get into broad daylight shootouts with criminal gangs. So there’s no possibility this could ever happen to me.
