Steelers had one of the early black quarterbacks - Joe Gilliam.

He had a great arm but no sense.

He tried to throw the ball on every play when he had great running backs.

Anyhow, he didn’t last long and ended up on drugs.

Nobody was shocked.

Jefferson Street Joe Gilliam was starting for the Steelers until he was sidelined with an injury. His replacement was a rookie named Terry Bradshaw. The rest, as they say, is history.
