Big difference between a public attack and a private strategy session with your supporters.

Yeah, stabbing your opponent in the back or facing him head-on. What this story boils down to again is whether Trump is nice enough to be President. Is that what we care about? At least he's honest, takes opponents on in the open. I prefer honest to backroom.

Haven't we had enough of backrooms?

Strategy sessions with your supporters is not stabbing anyone in the back. I am sure that Trump has strategy sessions with his supporters too. An attack is made publicly to try and damage your opponent. Cruz’s statement was not made publicly, instead it was made privately to his own supporters so it was not intended to damage anyone.
