Perhaps—I’m only slightly more than half-way to 90, so I suppose that my wife can hold out some hope that I’ll eventually come around to her way of seeing things. My kids would agree with the definition of a sweater as “something you put on when your mother feels cold.”

Thanks. I have pretty well gone native, but I grew up on the Oregon Coast. I suspect it is my Dad’s Norwegian blood, with a touch of Lapp.

Here in Wisconsin if it is in the mid 30s with no wind many people will go without a jacket.

I know. You must think I’m a real twit. :)

(But I’m an old bat so you’ll have to cut me some slack.)

LOL. Actually I used to love the cold. I have Reynaud’s Syndrome so can’t ski or be in the cold much anymore.

But, what’s my dogs’ excuse!?!

We see Canadians in shorts and tee shirts in Florida when it’s 50 degrees. They’re also the only ones who will stay for an extended time in the “hot springs” which are only about 70 degrees.

It’s all what you’re used to.

There is snow in the mountains up and down the state. That’s very good. Lots more they say in Jan. & Feb. Fingers crossed because our state government can’t product a decent water plan and are destroying farmers.

But I’m not too concerned because Obama et. al. are busy fixing the climate.

Thanks for the invitation—but we heat with wood (and have indoor plumbing!!!!) so we are pretty tied to the house once it starts to get cold.

I wasn’t being critical but was thinking of my youngest brother who would have said the very same thing you said about 10 years ago. He’s 56 and the cold now gets to him.

They live at 8300 feet in the Wet Mountains of Colo. and are looking for a place in Arizona to spend the winters when he retires.

I remember my Grandad telling me about a day in Montana when he was growing up when a chinook blew in leading to a 100 degree swing. I’m not sure how accurate the memory was at 70+ years, (or mine is at 20+ years), but it was a good story.

Lived there for a good portion of my life; places like Baker, Kelso, Ludlow Barstow, Vidal Junction, then back to places like Palmdale, Littlerock and Pearblossom.
I know correctly that it could get damn cold in the winter time and the farther away from the hills you got the colder it got.
I remember temps as low as 18 degrees and warming up to a balmy 45 in the afternoon.
Now I live in Nor. Cal. My average morning temp this time of year is 12 to 18 degrees, 24 or 25 by noon or one pm.
Coldest I have ever seen it on the front porch has been minus 14 degrees, that's 14 degrees below zero Fahrenheit, which would make it 46 degrees below where water freezes.
This time of year and for the next 3 months if I get a 40 degree day I tell everybody that it is “JUST POSITIVELY TROPICAL”.
Drives my wife crazy, she is a So. Cal kind of girl.
(snicker, snicker).

We were in PR in March a few years back. When we flew out of CO, there was snow. Happened that there was a bit of a cold snap while we were visiting; they got into the high 70s. People I was working with were wearing winter coats.

We were in heaven.

What is really fun is when the woodstoves are cranked and it is -40 outside and 85 in the kitchen. To freeze things solid, keep them in the car, and when you want them to warm up, move them to the deep freeze.

96.16 degrees Fahrenheit below zero holy crap!

I've been out in 65 below weather in Alaska. There is no words in the dictionary to explain the experience. It was so dry out in the snow, when I reached out to my truck door handle, a static shock (spark) about 2 inches long nearly knocked me down, from the door handle to my mitton.

It is fun; doesn't mean that occasionally you don't have to work at it.
(as in every damn day)
Still love it though, couldn't get me back to the flatlands at gunpoint.
