The rotation of the earth is going to wobble with or without our help.

There is a gyroscope effect from the earth spinning, and if you have ever watched a spinning top, the motion degenerates over time to a wider and wider wobble, caused (in that instance) by the much greater gravitational pull of earth.

The tugs and pulls of the Sun and various other of the planets also circling the Sun cause very small variations, and the pull is what causes the “wobble”. The sum effect is actually very small, and often as not, tends to cancel itself out over long enough time span. For the earth, we are talking about BILLIONS of years.

Newtons are little square cookies filled with a fruit filling of some kind. That is the only “Newton” that some of these [policy wonks even know about.

An irrelevancy, but Newtons now come in flavors like 100 Percent Whole Grain Triple Berry, 100 Percent Whole Grain Sweet Peach & Apricot, and 100 Percent Whole Grain Baked Apple & Cinnamon. There are no longer any “Fig” Newtons being made.

Actually, the world's wobble could lead to catastrophic consequences one day, like when a drunk gets behind the wheel of a car, and gets squished.

Now where can I get me some of those 100 Percent Whole Grain Baked Apple & Cinnamon Newtons???

Oh, before I forget :-)

The actual 'wobble' of the earth is a single rotation in the opposing direction of the spin, taking ~26,000 years and delineates the "Ages of Man". You are absolutely correct that it relates to the gyroscope/spin effect. That wobble is called the Precession of the Equinoxes and is extremely important in our long term understanding of our existence.

cheers

That’s OK; never did care for Fig Newtons any way, the apricot sounds interesting though.
