People often don’t think about that when they get a pet.
Nearly all of our pets have been rescues. If they happen to get really sick and need medical treatment that is prohibitively expensive, you can at least have some comfort that you gave them many years of love and attention.
Unfortunately, I’m usually the one that ends up taking them to the vet for the last goodbye.
All of mine stay home with me for that last goodbye/good girl/good boy moment.
My wife and kids will be adequately taken care of when I croak, and the comfort and security I can give my dogs by paying the extra dollars for the vets house call is more than worth it to me.
