I got this stuff in school in the early and mid 90s. The story goes that Black culture has a history of sounding back. When the tribal elder told a story the audience responded vocally. Same thing goes for Black churches, the bait and call between the preacher and the congregation is supposedly a cultural heritage brought form West Africa. Oddly, one can see a movie in West Africa without this sort of thing going on.
Personally, it appears more as a sign of a lack of intellectual development when someone cannot sit still and listen and wait for an appropriate time to respond. Also, we have become so incredibly self centered that anything I might think or do is the center upon which the universe rotates.
Exactly. Didja notice how she caught the eye of the lead actor (allegedly) and not only did she become a part of the show but she became (in her mind at any rate) the central focus of the production.
