Many consumers believe smartphones will cease to exist within five years, according to new research carried out by researchers on behalf of Ericsson.
The company's ConsumerLab questioned more than 100,000 customers in its native Sweden and 39 other countries, seeking their views on their technological desires for the future.

Smart phones like the latest iPhones are the most futuristic devices that I have ever seen in my lifetime. Not many decades ago, they were unimaginable, except on Star Trek. Now, I can’t fathom being without one when I leave the house. They are a supercomputer with an embedded telephone. They are a navigation system, a communications system, a language translater, a private secretary, a portable business office, a portal to the sum of human knowledge. Give all that up? No way!
Oops, my phone just reminded me now that it is lunch time. Gotta go....
They are an electronic version of a Leatherman Tool.
