This is a pretty good article, I received a link to from someone here at FR.

The article is balanced, insofar as it criticises both the left and the right. Seems more a Bush friend and overly critical of both Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, but it's pretty good still.

Enjoy.

To me, it was “balanced” in much the same way as when a rabid pro-abort writes an article trying to “understand” the pro-life point of view. The criticism of the right was scathing, the criticism of the left was constructive. Calling Americans paranoid for being nervous about real threats because real people have died does not win brownie points from me.

Trump as a reality show star will say things to get headlines. He does not think things through. They are sure crowd pleasers, especially when people are angry. However, a serious presidential candidate would have to be measured and thoughtful.

Ted Cruz is more controlled in what he says, while he will achieve the results needed in policy.

Sorry,

The Week is a leftist mag disguised as an objective compilation of artic from various sources. Inevitably the leftist sources are printed most prominently and always get the last word in.

GNN, thanks for posting, anyway. This article may be better than most, but I don’t want to give their site a hit.

with mainstream media outlets elevating every bad event anywhere in the country and the world into a sign of crisis; with partisan cable TV stations, talk radio programs, and niche websites shamelessly driving up their ratings and traffic by provoking each other into a state of endless outrage

Republican politicians and their ideological taskmasters in the right-wing media figured out before anyone else how to use the new telecommunications technologies to whip up their voters into a froth of ideological fury.

I didn't notice anything about how partisan the employees of the MSM are and how they use "news" of bad events anywhere to "whip up their voters into a froth of ideological fury" against their ideological opponents (us).

I think this states the situation better.

". . . some key [events] exacerbated the national debate, fraying trust, and national cohesion just a little more each time . . . The two-party system that had governed America . . . began to fall apart . . . interest in politics took the place of all other forms of news-related entertainment . . . politicians were the celebrities . . . [Politics/ideology] was becoming such a habit, the reactions so automatic, that [journalists] taking sides on every news story became inevitable."

.. I just can't avoid thinking about this from for Love & Liberty by Robin Young and it's about 1857 America.

One-hundred-and-fifty years later the discord is

Not balanced at all. Don’t click. We don’t need to “criticize” the left, we need to end them.

Anxious and on the verge of a nervous breakdown?? BS, we are mad as hell. This opinion only serves to, in a patronizing what, say he understand our pain and fears, but Trump is making things worse. Now if we would all go back to being good little sheep, things would be better.

Yet clearly, millions of Americans like what they're hearing from Trump -- and, increasingly, from his Mini-Me, Ted Cruz.

Ouch.

The things that make the political right so jumpy is that there is obviously a clash of western culture vs eastern culture going on...or more simply stated...democracy vs theocracy.

We see how Europe has been deluged with people who have no concept of equal rights, women’s rights, or freedom of speech. Western society is based on the rule of law. Eastern society is based on the rule of Allah (so called). These two visions of life are incompatible with each other.

In the end, we see a Muslim world run by theocrats, and dictators. We see Muslim political systems run by buy-offs, violence, murder, and intimidation. Simply stated-Muslims practice the harshest form of politics and their countries suffer greatly for it.

When we see political cartoons or Saturday Night Live or Late Night Comedians make fun and joke, we laugh...even if it’s at our expense. We don’t execute the joke teller. With all that said, we in the US really don’t give a rats ass about how the Muslim’s run their countries even though they are obviously failed societies but, we certainly don’t want any of that ideology in our country.

Obama and the left keep inferring we don’t like people that are different or who aren’t white. It’s infuriating and insulting. Obama is the racist. Not us. We just don’t like people who don’t believe in freedom and, say what you want about Muslims, but they (as a society) have given no clear thinking person any indication that they believe in freedom. Until they do, none of us are interested in having 2 million of them sent to our country in the name of diversity.

Trump taps into this fact in a non-politically correct way that just makes us all want to say “Yes!!! Someone gets it.” Sorry Liberals. If you don’t think western society is better than the alternative, you’ll damn sure get the alternative. We have the guts and confidence to say, “No.” Too bad Europe doesn’t.

Donald Trump and a nation on the verge of a nervous breakdown

The author throws around the term "demagogue" at anyone who has dared to criticize the politically correct style of half-heartedly combating those that, given the right circumstances, would like nothing better than to line us up in the street and cut our throats.

I don't think the nation is on the verge of a nervous breakdown, although most screaming libs are always in that state, we are PISSED OFF and want to do something about it!

Trump is not a fascist for banning Muslims from entering the country although I don’t know how that could practically be accomplished. The country is at war with radical Islam or really Islam as it was conceived and Americans can’t figure out how to fit that into a politically correct culture. Islam is forcing Americans to choose between politically correct views and survival and it’s not easy to give up that freedom from criticism that political correctness offers. Many Americans don’t really understand the moral underpinnings of true discrimination. It is wrong to descriminate against someone for the traits they are born with brcause they did not choose those traits and they are forever a part of a person. Religion is different because religion only requires belief and if you believe something crazy you are more likely ro do crazy things. So religions should be judged based on their moral worth and Islam has little moral worth.

IOW, it's only partially balanced which usually indicates it has a Leftward slant as it's main purpose and they add some "balance" in order to make some folks think they make sense as they chow down on the poisoned bait....

I wrote that before I read the having read the article. Now that I've read it, I realize I was way too easy on it - how on Earth did you find the words "balanced" and "pretty good still" to describe it? It's pure Left Wing tripe, pro-Obama (" (Obama's prime-time Oval Office address to the nation on Sunday night was a tentative but rather feeble step in the right direction. More, please.)" ) and finishes up with an inane non-statement - kind of like modern "art" where something that makes no sense is portrayed as "art".

Someone needs to either improve reading comprehension or change sides formally. (I apologize if that hurt your feelings but I gotta call them as I see them)

Now for a short public service announcement to all on FR:
We need to ensure we don't get another Obama-like America Hater as the next President.
The best way to ensure that is to actively support a candidate as the next President.
I prefer Cruz and my money goes to his campaign, hence the Cruz link. If you like someone else, donate to him/her (find your own link to do it) and if you use FR and don't donate, then please don't complain about the welfare leeches or those who have Obama Phones because, functionally, you are no different than any other FReeloader

PS - If you are one of those who cannot afford even a small donation to FR or a candidate, God Bless and happy FReeping!.....

GO CRUZ!! Keep it up Trump!!

Donate to FR

Donate to Cruz
