Kentucky Kindergartner Killed in His Sleep

VERSAILLES, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police have arrested and charged a man with murder after authorities say he stabbed a young boy to death during a home invasion in Versailles, near Lexington.

I'm hoping some Freepers can help me understand what's going on here. This story makes no sense and none of the media want to dig for answers. Nothing in this story makes any sense at all unless you consider two scenarios: 1. The attacker is a total loon, but that still doesn't address how he ended up in Kentucky when he lives in Indiana. 2. The only other thing that makes sense is that there is a lot about this that the media doesn't want us to know so they're shutting up.

The fact that it was stabbing could be related to recent muslim stabbing attacks in the US and Israel. He could be a lone wolf jihadi.

If US citizens thought that they were not safe in their own bed they would set out to eliminate the threat before it reached their neighborhood. I would.

Imagine the firestorm that a scenario like that could set off in the US and abroad?

VERSAILLES, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police have arrested and charged a man with murder after authorities say he stabbed a young boy to death during a home invasion in Versailles, near Lexington.

Police say on Monday around 4 a.m., 32-year-old Ronald Exantus, of Indianapolis, walked through an unlocked door at a home on Douglas Avenue in Versailles, found a kitchen knife and went upstairs and stabbed 6-year-old Logan Tipton.

Later on Monday, in hand cuffs and a bullet proof vest and guarded by four deputies, Exantus stood before Woodford District Court Judge Vanessa Dickson.

"Mr. Exantus went to an upstairs bedroom where a 6-year-old male victim was asleep in his bed. Mr. Exantus, with a large kitchen knife that he obtained in the house, stabbed the victim several times in the head area,” Judge Dickson read in court.

Four of Tipton’s siblings were home at the time of the crime, along with his father, police say.

Authorities say two of Tipton's siblings were injured, leading detectives to think they may have witnessed their brother's murder and tried to intervene. The children were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Tipton's father held Exantus until officers arrived, according to authorities. They believe he detained Exantus in a hallway, not yet realizing his son had been severely stabbed.

"Dad did what a dad was supposed to do. You know, you hear commotion in the middle of the night and you wake up and never expect to wake up to someone in your home,” said Lt. Michael Fortney of Versailles Police.

Officials know of no connection between Exantus and the Tipton family.

“There's no reasoning why he picked that bedroom or that house. We have found no correlation between the suspect and the family that lives there,” said Fortney.

Exantus is also charged with first-degree burglary. Attorneys expect assault charges to also be filed.

Bridget Hofler, a public defender with the Capital Trials Branch, says Exantus is a registered nurse in Indianapolis, but argued in court he is not competent.

She said she tried to interview him before his arraignment and concluded “he’s just not here.”

She says according to her client’s facebook page, he has three children, but she has not confirmed that with Exantus.

That same page says Exantus works as an RN at Fresenius Medical Care.

When WDRB called for a statement from his alleged employer, we were told his name is listed under the employee database at the company’s Anderson, Indiana campus.

When our call was transferred there, an employee said no one named Ronald Exantus works there.

According to Indiana’s online licensing verification, Ronald Exantus of Indianapolis, is a registered nurse with an active license.

Exantus may have been driving from Indianapolis to Florida, where his parents live, but they don’t know why he would have stopped in Versailles, police believe.

Exantus told the judge he needed an attorney appointed for him, because he does not know anyone in Versailles.

The judge entered a plea of not guilty on Exantus' behalf and set his bond at $1 million.

Exantus is being held in the Woodford County Detention Center.

Community members held a vigil for Logan Tipton Monday night.

He was a kindergartner at Simmons Elementary School and played football for Woodford County.

Maybe he’s just insane? There was a serial killer who picked his victims by whether or not the front door was locked. In his lunatic mind, if the front door was locked, then that means that you’re not welcome to come inside. He would go up to a door, if it was locked, he’d just go down the street to the next door neighbor and try the doorknob. Didn’t try to break in or force the door or anything. Thats the scary part, maybe his victim was pure chance?

>>Dad did what a dad was supposed to do.

Sadly, no he didn’t. Exantus isn’t lying dead in a pool of his own blood.

Black dudes with dreadlocks don’t fit the profile for jihadists. Probably just a typical racist black who feels justified doing anything to whites, even to a 6 year old child.

The world is going insane.

The other day a man in Oklahoma raped and murdered a one year old.

No big media attention to that child murder.

Police say an Indianapolis dialysis nurse has admitted to driving 200 miles to Kentucky, breaking into a family home at random and stabbing a sleeping boy to death with a kitchen knife, according to NBC 5 affiliate WTHR.

Ronald Exantus, 32, killed Logan Tipton by stabbing him repeatedly in the head while the kindergartener slept in his bed, according to police. Exantus also allegedly stabbed Tipton’s young siblings during the violent attack, though he pleaded not guilty Monday.

The family plans to move out of their house in the neighborhood. Two of the boy’s sisters suffered non-life-threatening cuts in the attack, and the suspect was held by the boy’s father until police arrived, the arrest citation said.

The boy’s father said at his son’s vigil his oldest daughter helped hide her siblings and fought with the intruder until her dad could get there to help, WTHR reports.

“She fought this grown man trying to kill them all until I got upstairs,” he said.

“She saved the rest of them until daddy got there. She’s our hero,” Logan’s mother said, according to WTHR.

Exantus lived with a girlfriend and three young children at an apartment near 86th and Township Line Rd. on the northwest side of Indianapolis, according to WTHR. A neighbor told WTHR she saw his girlfriend just this week and “nothing seemed out of the ordinary,”
