I think they follow Trump, donât they? ....almost never.......at least vis a vis Cruz. Months to decades ahead on some issues.....

No. Paul and Cruz were earlier. Trump uses shorter, punchier words like "ban" and "Muslims" so that he gets his mnessage across, at the loss of precision.
Cruz and Paul used country of residence as indicators.
I don't know how many jihadists or ISIS members are in, say Indonesia, so Trump's version might be more sweeping. On the other hand, Muslims may be permitted to lie as to whether they are Muslim or not. Making it religion based also brings up 1st Amendment issues. These can be worked, but it is more complicated.
