Playoff Status prediction
Michigan St (4) V Clemson (1)
Oklahoma (3) V Alabama (2)
ping
Clemson v. Oklahoma
Michigan State v. Alabama
Maybe, but the narrative is likely set - the cartel must protect Bama at all costs.
They don’t want to listen to Saban bitch and moan about the Cte. giving Oklahoma home field advantage in Dallas.
That’s my prediction too.
That’s my prediction too.
#1 they like conference championship games, so it gives them an opportunity to send a message to the B12,
#2, I think the potential for an OU - Bama championship is the most intruiging
And......I’ll be in church. Don’t tell me. I’m dvr ing it
What the hell are you talking about? Alabama may or may not be the best team, it is clearly a top 4 team. Even using the old BCS computer model Alabama is there. If there are teams that probably don’t belong, they are Clemson and Oklahoma. How Oklahoma got elevated in the rankings after being beaten by TCU’s team (If you watched the game TCU made Oklahoma its bitch the entire second half with a third string quarterback and would have certainly won in overtime), but handed a victory by TCU’s coach, is a mystery. Clemson had a weak schedule and might not have even gotten by NC without a bad offsides call on the on-side kick. Ohio is a better team than either Clemson or Oklahoma, and a few others probably are, too, including Stanford.
1. Clemson--the only undefeated team left.
2. Michigan State--best of the one-loss teams, with three quality wins over Michigan, Ohio State and Iowa.
3. Alabama--second-best of the one-loss teams, hurt by the weaker SEC this season.
4. Oklahoma--lack of Big 12 conference championship game is why this is gets the #4 spot.
“How Oklahoma got elevated in the rankings after being beaten by TCUâs team (If you watched the game TCU made Oklahoma its bitch the entire second half with a third string quarterback and would have certainly won in overtime), but handed a victory by TCUâs coach, is a mystery. You must have forgotten that OU was pounding TCU throughout the first half. The only way TCU got back into the game was through a despicable targeting infraction that took the OU quarterback out for part of the 2nd quarter and the entire second half. Or, the fact that OU played without their two starting halfbacks, Mixon and Perine, most of the third quarter. When all three were in the game, there was no question who was the better team.
BTW, most of the commentators I’ve heard have professed tha OU is the most “dangerous” team in the playoffs. I’ve not heard anyone use the term “dangerous” while talking about Stanford.
BTW, “Ohio” plays in the Mid American Conference and went 8-4.
I’m rooting for Coach Stoops, go OU.
You know I was referring to OSU. I saw the TCU hit, and it wasn’t “targeting”. The fact is that “dangerous” OU was outplayed by a team that had a 3rd string QB..and it’s Heisman possible WR was out, too. Everybody plays with injuries. I think OU would struggle against Arkansas. OU is only “dangerous” in that it is a good enough team to spoil any team’s day if the team is not playing well. But that is true of a lot of teams. OU doesn’t belong, and elevating it after the TCU game makes one think someone was paid off (just being hyperbolic. I’m sure no money changed hands...). I do think OU is probably better than Clemson.
“I saw the TCU hit, and it wasnât âtargetingâ.” You’re welcome to your own opinions. It was targeting and it was called. Other than that, we shall see whether OU belongs in the playoffs or not.
My prediction: Navy 38 Army 13 (14th straight win for the Midshipmen)
All else is rubbish.
Ain’t officiating grand. The question is not whether OU might make a good showing - any of the top 10-12 teams could do that given the randomness factor involved in single trial contests. The question is what has OU shown so far? Mediocre schedule, humiliating loss to a worthless UT team, and an embarrassing showing against TCU. OSU found a way to win against every team except MSU. A close loss to MSU is not the equivalent of losing to UT. And, frankly, Stanford played a harder schedule and has more talent than OU.
Go Hawks! -— sigh.
Where is University of Connecticut football heading to? We are bowl accepted.
“Ainât officiating grand. The question is not whether OU might make a good showing - any of the top 10-12 teams could do that given the randomness factor involved in single trial contests.”
If you accept the ‘randomness’ argument then this conversation is pointless and the Championship Series is an exercise in futility.
“The question is what has OU shown so far? Mediocre schedule, humiliating loss to a worthless UT team, and an embarrassing showing against TCU. OSU found a way to win against every team except MSU.”
And OU found a way to win against every team but UT including finding a way to beat TCU without OU’s heisman candidate quarterback and it’s two leading rushers. You need to make up your mind. You seem to argue that a single loss by your favorite team isn’t important while a another teams single loss is important. I would say OSU’s single loss to MSU is much more serious than OU’s loss to UT since it kept OSU out of the championship.
“And, frankly, Stanford played a harder schedule and has more talent than OU.”
OU played and defeated five teams ranked in the top 25.
Stanford played 3 and OSU played 2.
Right, a team that’s 13-0 and has the best resume of any of the teams doesn’t belong. Put down the pipe.
I’m not arguing that Bama shouldn’t be there, they clearly should. Just speculating about the order of the T4.
The quality of the 13-0 is the issue. Last night’s game looked like a top 4 team? Clemson would struggle against almost almost half of the Big 8, Big 10, Pac 12, and ALL of the SEC West.
