More than 1,000 people spent their Saturday afternoon in line for a chance to meet former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin at a book signing at Oaktree Gun Club in Newhall.
The one-time Republican vice presidential nominee talked, mingled and took photos with hundreds of her fans for several hours while she sold and signed copies of her bestselling devotional âSweet Freedom: A Devotional.â
Fanfare for Palin peaked long before the event even started, as a line stretched far up a hilly driveway at the gun club.
Some people brought their election signs from the 2008 presidential campaign â which featured the Republican ticket of Palin and Arizona Sen. John McCain â while others wore shirts bearing the names of their favorite candidates in the current Republican presidential field.
Betsy James, owner of the gun store at Oaktree, said she was surprised by how many people turned out to see Palin.
In fact, shortly before 1 p.m., all of Palinâs books were sold out even though there were still more than 200 people in line.
âToday has been tremendous,â James said. âThe turnout has been great.

I agree with your assessment on Sarah. However, should Trump get elected, I hope he finds a high-profile spot for her in his administration. That could set her back on the path for a spot on a GOP ticket in the future. She’s still only 51.
She’s still got it.
I used to live there, SCV. He had rodeos, the Sugus Speedway, 4th of July parades, Lassie(s) lived there, 98% white ( except for me and a few others), big families, and for lots of shooting ranges up Boquete Canyon. Hurray for my old home town!
I got to see Sarah in AZ. She wore a skirt suit made of red leather. Atta girl. After she spoke, people started leaving, because mcCain was up.
That is AWESOME you are SO lucky!!! I dont have a car so Im basically limited to here on the Westside..the furthest out that way Ive been is to Valencia once when I went to Magic Mountain. Santa Clarita/Newhall its nice over there, a hot zone for fires though especially when its very hot..Bouquet Canyon Ive heard of a few fires in that area, good people. I think that area is more Republican not sure though, so glad that so many people came out to see her I would have LOVED to go
You need to see her up close and in person. It’ll change your opinion.
So, who awarded Palin the Knight’s Cross?
Probably some native jewelry. I see stuff like that here in my little bush village.
