Very cool that that was caught on camera- I do photography and had known about this- it’s a very rare event to capture it on film because it happens very quickly

It’s a phenomena that not many are actually aware of

For more info and photos, here’s a link

http://earthsky.org/earth/can-i-see-a-green-flash

From the link

What makes a green flash? The green flash is the result of looking at the sun through a greater and greater thickness of atmosphere as you look lower and lower in the sky. Water vapor in the atmosphere absorbs the yellow and orange colors in white sunlight, and air molecules scatter the violet light. That leaves the red and blue-green light to travel directly toward you. Near the horizon, the sun’s light is highly bent or refracted. It’s as though there are two suns – a red one and a blue-green one – partially covering each other. The red one is always closest to the horizon, so when it sets or before it rises, you see only the blue-green disk – the green flash.

The single time in my life that I saw the green flash was from a car while crossing the Golden Gate Bridge. Very memorable.

Thanks. Our house has an unobstructed view of the western horizon in the winter months, and we make a big deal of sunsets. I have only seen the "green flash" several times.

Before this video, I would have said I've never seen the "green flash". I have been expecting a great flash of light, not a fleeting green image of the last arm of the sun, so I will save this link to show to guests what the "green flash" really is. This is also the first time I've seen a legitimate explanation of what the "green flash" is, so thanks, again.
