Carry gun for the current day
vanity ^ | 02 Dec 2015 | dangerdoc

I carried a 1911 then an M9 in the service.

Carried a 1911 commander for a while as a civilian but as I got older and attire for work changed, I switched to a subcompact 9mm.

Last year, the world started feeling more dangerous and I upgraded to a 10mm double stack pistol, bag carry. But in a world where the bad guys show up with rifles and today with rifles, armor and bombs, any pistol seem pretty anemic.

I'm curious what other freepers carry or are thinking about self defense in the world that Zero has given us.

With me everyday:

Springfield XDS, .45 ACP on my body.
Springfield XD Compact in .45 ACP in my vehicle.
Ruger 10/22 Take Down, 4 Ruger 25 round mags in the case, in my vehicle.

It’s my “I’m Getting Home” kit.

I’m old and broken, if trouble comes, I have two choices, stand and take it or stand and fight. I won’t be moving anywhere fast.

My suggetion was a general one. Too many people rely solely on weapons. In real firefights, there's a lot of moving around, and a lot of people aren't in shape for that. If you can't get in shape, then I suggest the biggest weapon you can manage, or that you file the paperwork for a full-auto.

Well aren't you just a helpful little thing....

You are welcome!

Contrary to popular belief, I have never owned a canoe, and the new truck is now a battle wagon, with all kinds of places to secure weapons and plenty of rounds for all of them.

This is my conceal carry on body, depends on if jeans, vs summer with shorts and t shirt I go down to smaller guns
riding motorcycle, or riding bicycle 22mag

Baby Glock 26 9mm, two mags
Rugar LCP 380 2 mags
NAA 22Mag 5 shot 22 Magnum Black Widow
NAA 22Mag 5 shot 22 Magnum-Pug
NAA 22LR 5 shot

I often carry the 22LR as back up pocket gun to the others.

Every car or truck or RV has other guns and or rifles

I have carried various .357 mags, .45s, and a .44 mag and ultimately came to believe the 10mm is the ultimate round and the Glock 20 is the ultimate platform for that round. I have a Glock 21 in .460 Rowland that I thought would be just right but it’s too much power like the .44 mag. The 10mm surpasses the .357 magnum in stopping power and approaches the 9mm in capacity and the .45 in shootability. It’s all I ever carry anymore.

That 7.62 x 25 round is a real ice pick.

Designed to penetrate thick layers of Russian winter clothing.

...I will say C.B. knew his guns....

And, his gunsmiths. The short barrel was crowned.
My dear old Mom went to B.P.’s funeral in Dallas. It was quite the event. My apartment balcony in my wilder years was in eyesight of her final resting place.

Too much penetration with a 10 mag. 9mm Gold Dots in a Sig P229 with a spare mag.

I’ve gone back to carrying my Beretta 92FS for capacity. Other than my Ruger Super Blackhawk .44, it’s the only handgun that i can shoot that’s ridiculously accurate for me.

You’re probably safer grabbing the 30-30. Cops have been trained to shoot anyone with an evil black rifle.

I’m with you wrt the 10mm cartridge. The mod 20 is also my platform of choice. It’s my standard winter / cold weather carry.

My wife carries her HK P200 with standard mags. Extended mag causes printing.

j-frame .38 or XDS 9mm, depending on level of discretion desired.
