TMZ happens.
I have noticed that as well.
I’ve gone quite a while without thinking about Drudge, until you mentioned him.
Haven’t been there for years. Was tired of getting bombarded by ads.
I’ll go back to not thinking about him.
Matt has always had a strong connection to Hollywood/Entertainment/Pop Culture.
Drudge has more stories
Capitalism has always provided more
He has always had some sort of fetish for Hollyweird.
I emailed once about how it demeaned the integrity of his site, but, of course, he never answered.
I still check his page a few times a day, but nowhere near as often as I used to. In fact when there is breaking news I go here or some other sites. Drudge used to be first choice, but he is late to the party more often than not nowadays.
That is how Drudge got his start. He was working in the CBS sundry shop or somesuch in LA and overheard gossip. (this is from memory. Correct as needed.)
He has ALWAYS focused on gossip and the lurid. It was how he built his audience, and how he gets lots of non-conservatives to check in. If he hadn’t done that before Lewinsky, there might not have been a Lewinsky.
People write and post about what interests them. Mark Steyn’s page has just as much on Sinatra as on the Global Warming Hoax. And he has contributed more on both fronts at the same time.
Who?
I follow him on Twitter and there 90% of what he links to are the more relevant items.
Drudge leads the national news without a doubt.
Half of what you see in the Establishment media is to counter Matt Drudge.
As for his headlines it’s just what he finds interesting and thinks. It’s not the same fake media you see in the media, facebook, Huffington Post, Buzz Feed, etc.. It’s his own platform.
The majority of it, 51% or more, goes viral on the Internet where most people get their news now.
Hence, the Establishment media response.
For the record, Matt Drudge’s numbers SMOKES the Establishment media numbers combined.
He used to be first, by a large margin, and now he’s very late, if absent, to some big stories.
Him airing the spiked Newsweek story put him on the map forever. Wonder if he recalls that much anymore.
Drudge has always had a fascination with Hollywood. It sometimes gets to be too much and renders his site nothing more than “Entertainment Tonight”.
Drudge started the Drudge Report in Los Angeles and at the beginning he would rummage through trash cans at movie lots and studios. He became popular during the Monica stuff, but he’s always been interested in Hollywood.
It is all about revenue.
He became aware of my infamous battles with blogpimps
and realizing that he was totally gay, fled the field.
Drudge links to what gets him hits and what he finds interesting. Thus far he’s been successful. I’d guess he pays attention to what links garner the most attention.
I’m still waiting for what he has on USA funding ISIS.
I haven’t clicked on Drudge in weeks. Not that I’ve been boycotting, or anything, I just find his postings - of topics I’M interested in - are (lately) repeats of what I’ve already read, elsewhere.
This latest bear rape cr@p is beyond the pale, imo. Maybe he’s trying to prepare/warn us about something, in his stealth way. Hmmmmm....what else has been in the news, lately.
I scan his page a couple of times a day and click on what interests me. sometimes it is hard news sometimes Hollywood. I don’t dwell on keeping track of what he posts by percentage.
