The Houston Colt .45s (Astros) were an expansion team like the New York Mets.

Houston should have remained the Colt .45's. "Astro" is a dog's name. The New York Mets--the name sounds like a city in France--should also find a better name.

Mets is short for “Metropolitans.”

The original name of Colt 45s was fine by me.

Astros was referring to Houston’s role as a space center city.

It was never “Astro” without the s.

It was always about the space program hence ASTROS, short for Astronauts, plural form.

Like it or not, there was reason behind a name change.
