I knew we had Coyotes here when we bought the House. I remember we had a new Neighbor come by to ask us if we saw their missing Pet Cat that they let out of the House.
By that time we knew that the Cat was a Coyote snack, but we just told them we would keep an eye out for it. They didn’t have a clue and sharing the truth wouldn’t help. His Wife was distraught that the Cat had gone missing.
Like I said, this is CA. Clueless is as Clueless does.
There have been a few people who moved here from the city and apparently thought the area was a giant dog park where pets could be turned loose to wander around as they liked. It never ended well-if their dog or cat didn’t become dinner for coyotes or a snack for a mountain lion, their dog would end up getting shot by a neighbor for running their livestock, or if it survived that, the owner got slapped with the county fine for an unleashed dog-first offense is $500. Most of those people move away within a year or two...
