Just in case you didn’t understand it, I was mocking the Lagunatic for his catch and release Liberal fantasy regarding Coyotes. Did you catch my implication that the Pests should be shot? Apparently not.

We have Coyotes in our Neighborhood as well. I understand what they are. Unfortunately, if I decided to shoot one in my Yard I would be arrested for discharging a Firearm in the City limits.

This is CA, not one of the Free States.

I am also here in California (northern middle of nowhere), I understood you perfectly.
I have one neighbor about 4 miles away who just loves all the little Disney, cute, cuddly creatures; she just can't seem to understand why her cats and little dogs keep disappearing.
I deal with coyotes, bear, mountain lions, and bobcats on an almost daily basis.
I had a long discussion with USFS, BLM, and Fish and Game about the problem; they trap them and move them to another area, vermin just come back in about a week.
They finally had to issue me a Depredation Permit, now the problem gets solved permanently.
