Had to do it. Had to create the thread. The game is too damned good. This thread is reserved for hardcore gamers who play Fallout 4. Norm, KC, TADSLOS and I have hijacked so many threads discussing this game, I felt we needed our own thread.
Fallout 4 is amazing. The content is excessively large. There is so much to explore, you could replay this game 10 times and not find every mission or quest. The characters are so much better fleshed out than any other game I have played. Even the radio announcer of Diamond City Radio will have you doubling over in laughter, he's so inept at radio announcing. :) Your companions will pitch in with consistently new, sometimes insightful, and almost always area- or mission appropriate comments. I even got Piper (the hot Reporter chick) to sleep with me. It took a lot of sweet talking. But now she's in love. "Piper, how do you feel about our relationship?" Her answer: "Blue, this is as close to nirvana as I will ever find. Who knew a jaded reporter like me would find love in a wasteland?"
Fallout 4 is so graphics-intensive that I had to upgrade my video card to the GTX970 from Nividia, and I am so glad I did. 4 gigs of video memory, and a solid GPU array. Now I get 60 FPS (at the best) down to about 30 FOS (at the worst) with occasional dips to an unacceptable 24 FPS when in extremely busy, high clutter city areas with lots of combatants.
Our first topic: I want to mod the songs. I want change the Classical Radio Station to play songs I like.
I have six titles so far, that would fit in this game:
Filter's "Hey Man, Nice Shot" to be triggered during combat
Drowning Pool's "Let The Bodies Hit The Floor", also triggered during combat.
Lil Jon's "Turn Down For What"
Disturbed's "Down With The Sickness"
NIN's "Every Day Is Exactly The Same"
Any other suggestions?
So has anyone else gone round the bend on Minuteman quests?
I’ve done so many, they are repeating. If I get another “clear out the Corvega plant” or “My friend was kidnapped’, I swear I’m going to start getting sadistic on these settlers. I think I could probably wall them in with structures. Maybe they’ll starve to death.
I have however found a way to skip some of them, every time one of them walks up to me and asks for something unprompted, I put them on supply chain duty...and off they go.
I was so worried about the radiation in the glowing sea that I didn’t go until I could upgrade my armor to lead coating...and then it’s trivial. I was all stocked up with radaway, Radx etc...I could walk around for hours end barely get irradiated. I know there are some goodies out there, but the place is really barren.
I’ve just started focusing on the railroad quests, I’m not sure if I’m onboard with those synth lovers. We’ll see.
Then you definitely won’t like the Order: 1865. It’s not even a game . . . it is a movie that you interact with. That’s why I like the library. You can try ‘em before you buy ‘em.
Sold.
Recently got a Win-10 laptop that I've yet to find any
home use for.. it's for field use, like at The Shoot.
Having learned costly lessons in the past, I must first do rigorous compatibility checking.
F4 is like New Vagas and your tagline. Now with more awesomeness ;)
It’s a book thing really. The many MANY battles are a part of the overall story. You could fight for weeks without ever touching the main quest if you choose to.
Watch some of the youtube videos. If you like meyhem with a point, you’ll love the fallout series.
Actually I like that type of Game a lot. Xenosaga is exactly that. It was widely panned as more movie than game.
My ‘control issues’ are the core level physical variety. When I play I feel totally disconnected to the controls in Rockstar or Bioware games. But a game that is turn based/point and click I am fine with.
I know millions are just fine with them but I just can’t gel with them. Bioshock is a perfect storyline for what I like in a book. I just can’t make the player onscreen feel like ‘me’.
Do not field-treat the laptop. I would consider purchasing it instead.
Oh, and Fallout 4 is a desktop BIG SCREEN game... Laptops are annoying for games. Go large on the Video Card when you go desktop. GTX970 is rocking my world, made by Nividea.
Do a Minman quest and then after it’s complete, just don’t talk to Preston and you stop getting them constantly. Also don’t listen to minman radio.
Brotherhood and Minutemen quests repeat if you continue to do them. I think it’s a ‘stationary’ location to up your levels.
As I say on the Steam forum: “I upped my level. Up yours.”
Not a corrupt save. Pre modding my power armor helmet with a bright headlight and Recon scoping/full autoing my shotgun, Corvega works. After it does not.
I haZ found teh’ real bugs methinks. Anyone far along enough to try that?
Desktop machine is Win-7.
It’s never had any games run on it.
Got a drawer full of old ones.. most recent is Halo 2.
Which won’t run on it.
Homey been gameless for a few years.
So I just play with bloggers... which can be fun but the graphics are like totally nonexistent.
I’m 62 and sometimes I wonder if I just don’t have the reflexes that I did when I was 20. Where were these cool computer games back then!!!
Sometimes a game has a lot of ‘remember this’ sequences, like Assassin’s Creed and I find it easy to forget. I don’t want to play in baby mode though, so I fidget through.
No problem! Just hit up the local coke dealer for an 8-ball and you’ll be fine for a couple days. No sacrifice is too great for a proper gaming experience. Twitch games are easy when you’re twitching!
Meth will work but Coke adds life and stuff ;)
I tried some coke up my nose but I durn near drowned.
The key is one bottle not the whole 6 pack. It’s hard to breathe but you get used to living without the extra oxygen...for a while.
And therein is my major rub . . . why don’t we get those kewl life suits like they wear in F04? It just ain’t fair! Why can’t we pick up one of those ‘health boosters’ up off the street without being hauled in for roiding?
Liberals. They ruin everything.
Which is why they get wasted in the Fallout series! Truth and justice and the American way!
That’s how I play it. I just imagine that Fallout is the result of Liberal idiocy (which it actually is going by the official lore) and treat raiders and ghouls accordingly.
A sheer wish fulfillment act of vicarious vengeance through gaming ;)
I will admit, I’m wondering the wasteland.
I’ve just gone in blind, I may have ruined some factions though. If you snipe from far away, you can’t tell if they’re friendly or not. Gunners now hate me heh.
It seems a decent game, maybe a simulator of what’s to come.
