Here’s something I have been seeing for a week now under settings and installations:

Upgrade to Windows 10 Home, version 1511, 10586

Then it says could not update due to error.

What the error is, I do not know because it didn’t say.

Maybe this is a good thing??? I have Win 10 which was installed in July so am not sure about this “upgrade.”

I have seen this problem previously. Usually it is because ms has missed a small problem in its upgrade that affects a small number of machines and when enough of them report a problem they will get around to fixing it in a later upgrade.

Just don’t expect them to make a big announcement about correcting their error.

If you just keep an eye on the Windows threads then sooner or later you should see someone announce that the latest upgrade has fixed ‘xxxx and xxxx error when upgrading’ (your error note).

Please note though that it is generally not considered wise to automatically upgrade every time ms puts one out, as sometimes certain machines do not like the latest upgrade and begin suffering problems. Wait a bit until the minor issues are worked out and then you can install it with less chance of any issues.

Maybe this is a good thing???

Probably. I did the upgrade, and it wiped out all my privacy settings, and enabled stuff I disabled way back in Win 8.

Then there was another update the other day to fix that problem with not maintaining the settings, according to an article I read.

Oh, and to make matters worse, besides the privacy issue, a number of Win10 users had programs uninstalled as well.

So, not sure what the percentage was, but perhaps you dodge a PITA update.

I also noticed that the printer sharing wasn't working as well. Haven't tried since the latest update to the version 1511, 10586 update.
