Just more proof either Russian aircraft suck, Russian pilots suck or a combination of the two.

Or proof that the Turks sucker punched them.

I’ve wondered the exact same thing.

I know practically nothing about a modern jet fighter’s on board warning and evasion systems. But my thinking is the Russian jet should have had some system to warn the pilot and some maneuver available to avoid the missile or to let him know he was being tracked and locked on by another aircraft.

Are their aircraft that far into the dark ages, or the pilot??

The SU-24 first flew in 1967. Introduced in 1974. Getting a bit long in the tooth.

I think the Russian Jet was less of a fighter jet and more of a bomber against two fighter jets. I could be wrong, but I think it was two Air to Air vs one Air to Ground.
