“I decided on Gerson and supplements over keto for the simple fact that organic fruits and veggies are cheaper than organic meats and cheeses.”
Note, it is a misconception that the ketogenic diet is somehow a lot of meat in the diet. On the contrary, maintenance of ketosis at an effective level means sharply reducing intakes of meat, fish, poultry and other sources of protein. For example, some ketogenic diets may divide the daily caloric diet into 80% fat, 15% protein, and 5% carbohydrates. The 15% fat may translate for some people into only some 75 grams of protein per day, or somewhere in the neighborhood of about 4oz to 6oz. of meat, fish, or poultry per meal once or twice per day.
I’ve been thinking about adding some meat to my diet in the form of wild caught salmon. I read about it on chrisbeatcancer.com. My treatment is always evolving; a work in progress, if you will. My husband is my juicer, and at least once a week he has a new recipe he’s whipped up. His new kick is fresh ginger. He makes a sun tea jug every day for us wit,h filtered water, juiced lemon, juiced Granny Smith, and juiced fresh ginger. I actually crave it and we go through the entire jug each day. The ginger is mild enough that our kids will have a few sips.
