Cawley is an interesting character.
Made a TON of money day trading, got out at the right time, and is considered the #1 Elvis Impersonator, as well.
I’ll give them an A+ for effort. They’ve certainly captured the aesthetic of the 60’s era vision of the future. I just can’t get past the fact that they’re using the same characters that are so iconic as portrayed by the original actors. I felt the same with JJ Trek. If they had created a different crew on a different ship within that same era of Trek, I’d be able to watch it without that nagging feeling that something wasn’t right.
Having been born and raised in Ticonderoga (Ti), I’m thrilled to see this on FR. James has done an amazing job with Star Trek and this year topped it off. He not only built an amazing set but brought original actors to Ti, along with lots of Trekkies, and stimulated the slogging economy. Five or six years ago, when I still worked at Fort Ticonderoga, he filmed an episode at the fort. And, yes, he is an amazing Elvis impersonator!
