I got about 1/2 dozen of these little Cree LEDs, which run on just ONE AA battery that lasts quite a long time. They are very small, maybe 4" long, have an adjustable beam, a pocket/belt clip, and are quite bright for their size. I got mine on Ebay for about $3 each.

Nice thing about single cell lights is you avoid the battery barfing issue with alkalines. That apparently can occur when one cell drops below the others.

Have lost too many lights and other battery powered things to the damn AA and AAA batteries bursting and finding out too late to save the things.

I have a few of those little flashlights myself. About 130 lumens from a single AA battery. At about $4 each, they cannot be beat.
