He’s no idiot...he’s a very talented medical professional. Of course that has no real bearing on his qualifications for being in politics.
I am not agreeing with the article. I like the man, but not for President.
But, in general matters, don’t we all know people who are experts at their job, but who cannot navigate the most benign social setting.
Carson is clearly in a league of his own. But I think he has fallen prey to others “building him up” in a way that they never needed to.
For God’s sake, I saw a kids book in CVS about Ben Carson’s life. It was published earlier in the year—before all of this stuff. We should not destroy the few role models kids have these days. I did not see any Hillary books.
Carson may not be your man, HOWEVER, calling a BRAIN SURGEON an idiot is quite arrogant. Most likely he has a far higher IQ than the person calling him an idiot - which he is clearly not, nor could be to have accomplished what he has.
That said, I think people confuse intelligence with knowledge (and separately again, wisdom). You can be intelligent but not knowledgeable. You can be knowledgeable but not particularly intelligent. You can be intelligent and knowledgeable but still be a fool (lack wisdom). Etc.
You can claim he isn’t knowledgeable about topics he’ll need to know if President but to claim he’s an idiot is pretty low IQ stuff as well.
Look, there are a lot of things that you can say about Dr. Carson.
You can say he’s wrong on some of the issues. (What candidate isn’t?) You can say that he believes some things that the rest of us find somewhat odd. You can say that he has had a lot of verbal stumbles.
But a man who was chief of pediatric neurosurgery at one of America’s finest hospitals, Johns Hopkins, is not an idiot. Idiots don’t get to that kind of position, even if they are minorities.

Ben Carson’s big ‘sin’ is that he hasn’t spent his whole life learning corruption and clawing his way up the political ladder - the DC way.
Oh lord, he’s not politically ‘cool’...
Mr. Carson rather, has spent his life learning and practicing a tough and important skill - instead of living life as a rabble-rouser who gets rich from corrupt and evil backers who want to tear the country apart (Obama).
How does that make Mr. Carson dumb?
Just because he hasn’t learned to be a corrupt criminal, evading prosecution by whatever means (like Hillary), doesn’t make him dumb and her smart.
Yes, I get that one SHOULD have experience to qualify for POTUS but sheesh, to call him dumb and say he wouldn’t know what he’s doing - after OBAMA (no experience WHATSOEVER)????
