I’d bet a cup of coffee there was no exchange about sanctuary cities between the two prior to Trump bringing it to the forefront. Btw, I think Jindal was compared to Gomer Pyle, not Fife.
That may be true chronologically, and you could say that Jindal's statement about arresting sanctuary city mayors was motivated by all the publicity Trump got, but it's always been easier to criticize sanctuary city policies than to push for bigger changes in federal immigration policy, so I wouldn't assume Jindal's stand against sanctuary cities was motivated by Trump and wasn't his own.
Btw, I think Jindal was compared to Gomer Pyle, not Fife.
Both.
"I love listening to Jindal, because I swear if you didn't know who he is, you swear it was Gomer Pyle," the Democrat added. "We shouldn't lower ourselves to the lowest common denominator, and that's the brain of ... Bobby Jindal."
He said Jindal's comments are simply a move to push him "beyond the 1 percent right now" in presidential polls. He sarcastically said "Sheriff Bobby Jindal" hasn't put him in handcuffs.
"More like, Deputy Barney Fife, has not arrested me yet," Curtatone said.
Curtatone's arrogant mindset isn't one I'd endorse or promote.
